You reach the Santa Maria Assunta church passing through a pretty and characteristic cobbled street covered by arches of blooming bougainvillea. The church was built during the 13th Century and the impressive ‘majolica cupola’, with its lovely coloured tiles, can be seen from all over town.
The interior of the church is in the Baroque style and adorned with delicate marble and gold features. It has a nave and two pillars and the main altar features a beautiful 17th Century Byzantine-style panel painting depicting the Madonna and Child.
